RECENTLY…

Before Liam’s birthday bash we had quite a few moments that I will never forget, especially the time when Jace spilled my boiling hot tea on his arm.  Worst parent of the year?  That’s exactly how I felt after the incident.  Just when you think you got it, you don’t.  It was around 6am and I placed my mug on the arm of the couch.  2 seconds later Jace knocked it right over.  Good thing he’s a strong little guy and babies heal fast.  I mean really fast.  It took about a week to heal. He had a 2nd degree burn.  Ouch!  My poor baby.  It didn’t keep him from smiling though!

Then there was Liam’s 2nd hair cut.  How did this turn out?  Look at this speed racer!  Fresh cut in his favorite race car ever!! It was a little rough in the beginning, but thankfully his hair stylist was patient and really sweet.  He even got a lollipop!

He say’s “cheese” with his eyes closed.  We were invited to a Hello Kitty birthday party in Northridge.  My friend’s daughter turned 1 years old.  Super cute party, but soooooo hot out.  So hot, you couldn’t slide down the inflatable moon jump.  We had to use towels.  Liam was unstoppable regardless.  Look at that face!

Here’s a funny moment… One thing that Jace does almost every day at home is hang out in the hamper.   We call it his “jacuzzi.”

Time for a check up!  Jace’s arm looks great. Liam kept his cool at the doc’s office.  So cool, he even told the pediatrician, “mommy burned baby brother’s arm with hot tea!”  Thanks Liam.

Another perfect moment to capture my boys’ outside.  If you don’t know by now, I love taking photos in natural lighting.  This is right before walking into Hobby Lobby to do some birthday party shopping.  Again, blazing hot out.  This was September and we were freaking melting.

Tasty bacon jalapeño cheddar pretzels I made on game day.  You can’t eat just one…. seriously.

NOVEMBER 2014 IN A FLASH

Wow! It’s February already!  I know I always say this, but where did the time go?   Here is our November in a flash.  We didn’t do much this month besides take a few trips to Target.  Other than that we stayed home with our newborn and kept busy with indoor and outdoor play.  We also spent Thanksgiving at home.  Tim’s mom came over, to cook the turkey and sides.  Tim and I made the dessert.  I made mini pumpkin pies and Tim made his traditional lemon cheesecake topped with blueberries.  To wrap up the month, we got invited to a football game.  Tim’s favorite team, Norte Dame played against USC.

Notre Dame vs USC

Not a good ending for Notre Dame, but at least we were in a suite with open bar!

Halloween 2014- Viking Family

Well, December 1st got here pretty quick!  Happy shopping to everyone on this awesome Cyber Monday.  It’s been quite busy at the Mitchell home with a newborn. I haven’t had a chance to start planning our 25 days of Christmas countdown.  That is on my agenda this evening.  I do want to catch up with our holiday posts though.  Our last one for October is our Halloween 2014 post.  As always, every holiday we start out with a fun breakfast!  This year it was pumpkin pancakes with a ghoulish topping- whip cream and chocolate morsels.  Liam definitely enjoyed every bite!  We filled our day with a few fun activities- coloring and stamping and a little outdoor fun on the trampoline until it was time to get into our Halloween costumes.

Speaking of costumes,  this year we were a family of vikings.  They were custom made by Costume Eras in North Hollywood.  I also have to mention that it was Liam’s 1st year trick-or-treating. At first I thought it was going to be a disaster because getting that costume on the little guy was not pleasant.  But after we got him out of the house the fun began.  Tim did a great job guiding him through the experience.  He would knock on the door and Liam would say “Trick-or-Treat!”  After a few attempts, Liam got the hang of it.  He wasn’t shy of grabbing candy from the home owners either and sometimes he would set his pumpkin down and scoop out his candy to show everyone.  Cutest ever!  I loved listening to him say trick-r-treat and viking.  He made sure to let everyone know he was a viking.

Towards the end of our trick-or-treating it started to get really cold so we headed back home to finish off our night with some homemade chili and cornbread.  Here are a few photos…

New Home New Adventures

I can’t believe I’m already 26 weeks pregnant.  What a stressful fews months it’s been!  I’ve been slacking on posts and I feel terrible that I’m not up-to-date with Jace’s progress and my belly posts either.  Not that I’m not excited (does this count as a double negative?), but with an almost 2 year old toddler, my hands are pretty full right now.  There is so much going on besides trying to look for a home to rent.  Yeah, surprise.  There goes our plan with staying another year in our condo and saving up to buy a home.  Our landlord wants to sell this place so we have to move out pronto. Since Tim is working in Greenland I don’t get to talk to him on a daily basis.  He’s been hard at work in the mountains shooting a really cool show for the Animal Planet.  Liam and I miss him so much.  I hope he never leaves for this long again! Ha!

So in the meantime….

I’ve been house hunting solo!  What a challenging and stressful job it is not having your significant other here to help make this decision.  Driving around LA in this heat with a toddler throwing tantrums is not fun either.  Poor little guy, I don’t blame him, but I was determined to find a place quick, so I did whatever it took.  After days of nonstop cold calling realtors and landlords and checking listings by the minute, I can finally breathe.  I found our home!  I am so thankful for the few genuine friends Tim and I have who reached out and helped me.  What a difference it makes when you know that people actually care.

Now, the to-do list continues.  It’s time to hire a maid, a carpet cleaning service, movers and most importantly, it’s time to physically move shit!  Don’t worry I won’t pick up a box just yet.  I’ll leave that to the muscle man coming home soon.  And of course the movers.  In between taking care of Liam, I’ve  started packing boxes and getting things in order here.  So much more to do.

One word… EXHAUSTED.

My little man at our new home today.  He was all smiles running around in the back yard.  Someone is really happy right now!
